Owen Coyle chased the signature of this right fullback long and hard before finally securing the deal three weeks into the 2007/2008 campaign.
Gary, who is the nephew of former Scotland player Brian Irvine, spent almost eight years with Celtic coming right through the youth ranks but his first team appearances were mainly restricted to pre-season friendly matches and when Owen Coyle made his interest known Gary showed no hesitation in coming to Perth to pursue his career and he has been a regular in the right back slot throughout the campaign.
